Here at Scout I try to choose my ingredients based on science. I look into the process, additives, chemicals and their reactions, and impact they could put on you for each component of my products.
There are certain additives that some companies use to boost the scent throw, lengthen burn time or shelf life that negatively impact those who use it. Unfortunately, it is never a one size fits all game but I will never choose ingredients with boosters just to check more boxes on someone's 'must have' list.

✖ Mutagens: Materials that change the DNA of a cell, harming the cell and causing diseases like cancer.
✖ Reproductive toxins: Toxins that adversely affect reproductive organs and increase the risk of birth defects.
✖ Organ toxins: These are toxins that can cause adverse effects or disease within specific bodily organs.
✖ Acute toxins: Toxins that can cause adverse effects from a single exposure. Generally, this would be accidental exposure like spillage or ingestion.
You will find
-100% USA sourced soy wax is the base of each candle. Supporting me is supporting American farmers, name something better ... I'll wait. You'll notice some of the candles start to turn yellow, I bet you can guess why by now. I do not use additives to accentuate the white color of the soy wax nor do I use any chemicals to alter the vanillin present in some fragrance oils. The vanillin is what will discolor the wax in your candle but the discoloration will not affect the performance.
-In the soaking salts made at Scout you will find pure salts with all the benefits you are familiar with with zero additives to prolong shelf life. Does this mean your salts may discolor or clump? Maybe. Does this mean that it changes the performance? No, absolutely not. In my eyes, it boosts the performance because you do not need to worry about ingesting chemicals into your skin.
